CEWS - Represent a Client Problem Solved!

Thanks to Bruce Ball, the CPA Canada team and fast action from Canada Revenue Agency - Agence du revenu du Canada!

We now have revised wording for authorized representatives that clearly defines representatives limited involvement. CRA has stated that anyone who used Represent a Client today or yesterday, before their fix, will be considered to have used the revised, and much more reasonable, wording. So what are we stating we did?

  • Used the client's data with no audit or review.

  • Did not become aware of anything false or misleading.

  • Are in possession of the client's attestation.

  • The client confirmed that is the appropriate signatory on the attestation.

  • CRA can ask us for that attestation and we will immediately provide same.
